A contribution to the discussion of the matter–antimatter asymmetry problem

چکیده
Using a more accurate effective Hamiltonian governig the time evolution in the particle–antiparticle subspace of states than the one obtained within the Lee–Oehme–Yang approach we show that in the case of particles created at the instant t = t0 only the masses of a stable particle and its antiparticle are the same at all t ≥ t0 in a CPT invariant system, whereas the masses of an unstable particle and its antiparticle are equal only at t = t0 and then during their time evolution they become slightly different for times t ≫ t0 if CP symmetry is violated but CPT symmetry holds. This property is used to show that if the baryon number B is not conserved then the asymmetry between numbers of unstable baryons and antibaryons can arise in a CPT invariant system at t ≫ t0 even in the thermal equilibrium state of this system. e–mail: [email protected] , [email protected]

Note about leptogenesis from gravity waves in models of inflation
We show how the mechanism recently proposed by Alexander, Peskin, and Sheikh-Jabbari, in which the observed cosmic matter-antimatter asymmetry comes from the contribution of the cosmological tensor perturbations to the gravitational anomaly in the Standard Model, does not work. This holds when taking into account the commutation relations for the creation-annihilation operators associated to th...
متن کاملThe Principle of Asymmetry in the Elementary Universe
In this paper we consider a few important questions concerning the microuniverse of elementary physical systems. We know leptonic matter is characterized by negative electric charge and leptonic antimatter by positive electric charge. Conversely baryonic matter is characterized by positive electric charge and baryonic antimatter by negative electric charge. In the Non-Standard Model both, matte...
متن کاملAspects of matter-antimatter asymmetries in Astrophysics and relativistic heavy ion collisions
The idea of antimatter as a negative energy solution of relativistic free fermion equation as given by Dirac raises the issue of why the (observed) Universe is apparently constituted by matter whereas fundamental theories of elementary particle indicates the same laws for (creating) matter and antimatter [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. In fact, observational Astrophysics and Cosmology indicate a large baryon-...
متن کاملPrimordial Antimatter in the Contemporary Universe
In some baryogenesis scenarios, the universe acquires a non-vanishing average baryonic charge, but the baryon to photon ratio is not spatially constant and can be even negative in some space regions. This allows for existence of lumps of antimatter in our neighborhood and the possibility that very compact antimatter objects make a part of cosmological dark matter. Here I discuss the peculiar si...
متن کاملLeptogenesis as the Origin of Matter
We explore in some detail the hypothesis that the generation of a primordial leptonantilepton asymmetry (Leptogenesis) early on in the history of the Universe is the root cause for the origin of matter. After explaining the theoretical conditions for producing a matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe we detail how, through sphaleron processes, it is possible to transmute a lepton asymmetry...
